West Blockhouse is a headland composed primarily of Silurian greywacke and mudstone, formed around 440–420 million years ago through deep-marine sedimentation and subsequent tectonic compression. The area is notable for its resistant rock formations that have withstood coastal erosion, contributing to the rugged character of Pembrokeshire's coastline.
