Well in Unknown Townland

In 1891 the Irish Builder recorded that; 'Around the year 1860 some workmen who were employed by the Corporation in making a main sewer in Aungier-street, just opposite the house No. 56 [Carmelite Priory DU-18-020049-], they discovered an old well, and near its mouth they found two small silver vessels -a ewer and basin- which they handed over to the Very Rev. Dr. Spratt, who was of opinion the vessels were used for baptismal purposes. These two relics are still preserved amongst the valuable collection of antiquities left to the community by the late Dr. Spratt’ (Irish Builder 15 Sept. 1891, 210-1).
