This pear-shaped enclosure is reflected in the curvature of a number of streets (c.335m N-S, c. 260m E-W). It is thought to be the place identified in the annals and martyrologies as Duiblinn (Clarke 2002, 2).

A pear-shaped early-medieval ecclesiastical enclosure, possibly a ringfort or rath, associated with the historical site of Duiblinn, referenced in medieval annals and martyrologies as an important monastic or religious settlement. Local tradition and historical sources suggest it may have been an early Christian site linked to Saint Ciarán of Saigir.
