Weir: Bunratty 3.1 is a possibly medieval E-W post alignment, 5.6m long, in sloping estuarine clays on the W bank of the Owenagarney channel, leading to two WNW woven baskets: 3A, U-shaped and 1.2m long, and 3B, funnel-shaped and 2.8m long, c. 60m NNE of Little Quay Island. Per O’Sullivan 2001, pp. 157-9, 298. The funnel shape suggests entry for fish, not exit.

On the W bank of the River Owenagarney channel in the Shannon Estuary, c. 60m NNE of Little Quay Island. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 298) as a possibly medieval ‘post alignment (Bunratty 3.1) and two woven baskets (Bunratty 3A and 3B) in sloping estuarine clays at LWM. The post alignment is oriented E-W, c. 5.6m long, and leads to the baskets. Bunratty 3A is U-shaped, oriented WNW, and 1.2m long. Bunratty 3B is funnel-shaped, oriented WNW and 2.8m long.
