Bunratty West still casts shadows across the Shannon mudflat, where a post alignment once bit into the creek to trap silver fish. The structure stretched eight metres north-south, forcing the tide to obey human patience before it vanished beneath modern water. That temporary cage suggests people stood beside the current, reading the moon and waiting for life to strike the wooden teeth.

On the N bank of the Shannon estuary adjacent to Bunratty West townland. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 299) as a post medieval ‘Post alignment (creek trap), oriented N-S, 8m long, crossing modern mudflat creek, to NW of Bunratty 6. February 1997.'
