Weir, fish

What is recorded here

Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘The remains of a possible fishweir are located on the bank of a creek on the foreshore of Ballynacally townland, near LWM. The ruins of Paradise House are situated to the W. The remains consist of seven stakes clustered together over an area c. 1.5m wide. The stakes were of various heights, the tallest being c. 0.5m. A sample was not taken as the mudflats here were too soft to walk on.’ (O’Sullivan et al. 2010, Appendix 1, 64, Ballynacally 1) Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 9 October 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
