What is recorded here

Five stones and one tilted roof remain where a buried chamber once held the dead. The gallery leans south on the ridge above Crook Haven, its western mouth open to the sky and its narrow chamber closed at the east. People may have laid out their dead beneath that single stone before the mound disappeared, leaving only the angle of the chamber and the memory of what it covered.
Near head of small valley on SE-facing slope, NE end of ridge overlooking Crook Haven; c. 75m NE of tomb in Arduslough (CO147-048001-). Entire structure leans sharply to S. Gallery (L 1.8m; Wth c.1m) open to the W, represented by two sidestones to N, three to S, inset backstone to E; covered by single roofstone. No indications of surrounding mound. (de Valera and O Nualláin 1982, 39, Co. 58) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 See linked document with details from Ruaidhrí de Valera and Seán Ó Nualláin, Survey of the Megalithic Tombs of Ireland. Volume IV. Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary. (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1982)
Wedge tomb, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BC). Its orientation and structural lean suggest long-term environmental impact, while its location in a coastal valley reflects typical siting patterns for such tombs in the region.
