Wedge tomb in Garryduff (iverk By.)

Wedge tomb

What is recorded here

Megalithic tombs in this region date to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age, when people buried their dead beneath wedge-shaped stone chambers. Whether this was a family line, a trading cluster or a forgotten chief's gift to the land, the stones still mark a choice made in darkness: to keep someone visible after death.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
