Doobehy holds a wedge tomb where ancient hands tilted massive stones into a narrow chamber. The structure still points across the County Mayo landscape like a forgotten arrow. People may have placed the dead inside or marked a boundary for herds, yet the true purpose has faded. What remains is a sharp stone tongue waiting for someone to finish the sentence.

Wedge tomb; dates to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BC). These tombs are characteristic of west and central Ireland and represent a regional evolution in megalithic funerary architecture.
