Watermill House

Water mill, unclassified

What is recorded here

Traces of this watermill, associated with a 16th century Dower House have been enclosed in the NE corner of St Anne's Park. The remains are fragmentary, comprising a section of wall that extends E-W and is built of heavily mortared water-rolled boulders, standing to a height of three courses. It appears slightly battered (L 6.3m, Wth 0.97m). Attached to the E end of this wall and running at a right angle to it is a second wall (H 0.45m). This appears to form one side of a millrace. There is considerable stone collapse in the immediate area.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
