Clear water carried life, commerce and risk through County Dublin before it disappeared under modern streets. The Down Survey and later Ordnanceance maps preserved its shape, while the grand canal harbour received what the course brought upward.
Described on the Down Survey (1655-6) parish map as 'The water that SuppliethDublin. Shown as 'Mill Race', 'Watercourse' on the 1837 OS 6-inch map. This is a branch of the medieval Dublin Watercourse that led to the Grand Canal Harbour.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
