Water pump in Kiltiernan is a wooden ‘cow tail’ pump, which sounds like something sold at a fair by a man already edging towards his cart. ‘No, she gives water. That’s why she’s cheaper. Will you stop looking for the rest of her?’

A "cow tail" waterpump supplied by John P. Grace of The Liberty Saw Mills, The Coombe, representing an interesting example of street furniture making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement in a sylvan street scene.
