Freestanding cast-iron water pump, installed c.1880, comprising banded shaft, fluted neck and dome cap with finial. Fluted spout and cow’s tail handle.
A well-maintained water pump which is enlivened by its fine artistic detailing including its elegant curved handle, banded shaft and fluted cap. This functional object, located at a busy intersection, once played an important social as well as functional role in the town.
