Water pump in Knockbrack has an acorn on its head and a broken bucket stand. Whoever dressed it had the priorities of a lad arriving at a wedding in a magnificent hat, hoping nobody notices his trousers falling down.

Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, installed c.1870, comprising fluted cylindrical shaft with moulded neck and base, fluted cap with acorn finial. Broken riveted pail stand to base of shaft.
This interesting roadside feature at Cleggan is a simple functional feature that formerly gave the local community a supply of water. It is enhanced by the clever use of simple decoration such as fluting and an acorn finial.
