What is recorded here
Watermill depicted on Down Survey (1655-6) map has been located to the adjoining townlands of Killurane and Modreeny. This appears to be the same watermill described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as being in 'Modrenhy', 'Through the sd lands runneth a smale brooke whereupon stands the ruines of an old mill' which in 1640 was under the ownership of 'John Carroll of Moderenhy Gent. Irish Papist' (Simington 1934, vol.2, 288). Watermill is unlocated within these two townlands.
