According to the Civil Survey (1654-6), 'Upon the l[an]ds of Curraghanca stands the ruines of an old mill uppon the river Ara' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 18-19). In 1640 this land was under the proprietorship of ‘David Bourke of Curraghanea' listed as an Irish Papist (ibid.). This watermill is unlocated within the townland.
