Wall monument in Abington

The precise location of a 17th century wall monument belonging to the Fitzgerald family within the graveyard (LI014-014006-) of Abbey Owney (LI014-014002-) has not been identified. In 1681 Thomas Dineley described the wall tomb which he recorded as following ; 'Now to returne again into the Ruines of the Abby, observe the following Monument with these Inscripcons also in Roman Capitall Letters, this is erected on the right side the High Altar, on the top whereof read: STEMMA AMINES GIBBON ALS GERALD FILIAE MILITIS ALEI. Some read it Stemma Aminae Gibbon Fitz Gerald filiae militis albi. The White Knight, the knight of Kerry so call'd, was a descendent from Desmond '(Shirley et. al. 1865, 280-1).
