Vriskaig Point is a coastal headland composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back approximately 2.7 to 3 billion years. These metamorphic rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through high-pressure and high-temperature processes and were later exposed by erosion, making the area notable for its ancient geological history.
