Vlad-Art Gallery faces Priory Street in Cardigan with landscapes, wildlife and a working artist sharing the room. Step in for a West Wales view rendered in oil or pencil, then see whether the person who made it is at work nearby; this shop has more life than a silent row of frames. Artist Vladislas founded Vlad-Art in 2017 and opened his own gallery in 2021. He shows original oil paintings, watercolours and pencil drawings, with prints in different formats and sizes. The shop also carries sculpture and ceramics by other makers. Its own visitor page describes an on-site studio where people can sometimes watch him painting. The imagery ranges from coast and landscape to wildlife, giving a local visitor the slightly strange pleasure of recognising a place after someone else has looked at it hard. I reckon the painted birds complain if their feathers are hung beside the wrong sea, and Vladislas has learned to ignore them. The actual trick is seeing familiar scenery through an artist's choices. A wave can be a colour problem, a cliff can be a line, and a creature can hold still on paper longer than it ever would outdoors. Look close enough to see the decisions behind the view. The gallery is at 4 Priory Street, Cardigan. The operator advertises public visiting and explains that parking on Priory Street is limited, with town car parks nearby. Check its current hours before travelling; the local visitor site and gallery page do not give identical day listings. Browsing is welcome, while original work and prints are for sale. If the artist is painting, enjoy the chance to watch without interrupting his brush at a difficult moment.
