What is recorded here

Cast-iron vent pipe, c.1870, with fluted base, cast-iron shaft and crown.
Vent pipes are unusual and becoming increasingly rare in Ireland. The design and detail of this vent is similar to contemporary cast-iron lamp standards of the late nineteenth-century. The simple form of this functional object is enhanced by the fluting to the base.
