Section of irregular coursed squared limestone or rubble stone boundary wall, c.1750, originally forming part of larger composition with tooled cut-granite quoins to ends, square-headed door opening with rendered surround, and tongue-and-groove timber panelled door. In use as hospital, 1798. Remainder of composition demolished, post-1924. Street fronted.
The remains of a mid eighteenth-century range exhibiting good quality traditional stone masonry in the construction in barely-refined limestone or rubble stone with granite dressings producing a muted polychromatic visual quality in the composition. Although surviving only as a fragment enhancing the streetscape value of Friary Hill, the wall remains of additional importance as evidence of a temporary hospital established to accommodate casualties from the 1798 Rebellion in Enniscorthy.
