Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U 29 as Submarine (first World War)-(1915). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
U 29 was a German U-boat lost in 1915 during the First World War after being sunk by the British submarine HMS B11 in the North Sea. The incident resulted in the loss of all 38 crew members aboard the U-boat and marked an early significant German naval casualty in the war.
