What is recorded here
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U 965 as Submarine (period Unassigned)-(1945). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
U 965 was a German U-boat that was scuttled in May 1945 off the coast of Scotland as part of Operation Deadlight, the Allied disposal of captured Axis submarines after World War II. No lives were lost, and its sinking marked the end of the vessel's wartime service.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
