Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U 14 as Submarine (first World War)-(1915). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
U 14 was a British Royal Navy submarine commissioned during the First World War and lost in 1915 after striking a mine off the coast of Scotland. It sank with the loss of all 35 crew members; the wreck remains an important historical site linked to early submarine warfare in the war.
