Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Twizel Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Twizel Castle was built in the 13th century by the de Vaux family, a prominent feudal family in southern Scotland. It is remembered as an example of medieval military architecture and for its strategic role in the region during the Scottish Wars of Independence.
