Marian and her husband owned the lodge when the castle fell into ruin. They kept a small garden behind the gate and left the front path empty for visitors who never came. The lodge still stands beside the broken castle, waiting for the same carriage that departed decades ago.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Tulliallan Castle, the Lodge as Gate Lodge (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Tulliallan Castle, the Lodge is a historic structure associated with the larger Tulliallan Castle, which was built in the 17th century by the Lindsay family, later Earls of Balcarres. The Lodge is important as part of the estate's historical landscape and as a remnant of the noble heritage of Clackmannanshire.
