Trennet Bank is a sea cliff composed primarily of Jurassic limestone, formed around 150 to 180 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its exposure of the Whitby Mudstone Formation, which is significant for its fossil content and its role in the study of early Jurassic marine life.
