Tomgraney Castle was built in the 15th or 16th century by the MacNamara clan, who were prominent Gaelic lords in the region. It is remembered as a significant example of a defensive tower house in west Clare and reflects the historical power and territorial divisions of the area during the late medieval period.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
