Tomb is a tomb (chest tomb) in St. Patricksrock, County Tipperary, Ireland. The end slab measures 0.8 metres by 0.59 metres and is inserted into the north wall of the south chapel in the north transept of the Rock of Cashel cathedral. It depicts Christ on a cross with enlarged rectangular ends, the Virgin with clasped hands wearing a pleated garment and Irish mantle, and St John with a raised hand in a gesture of sorrow. Hunt identifies the crude, mannered work as a late production closely connected with the O'Tunney workshop.
Inserted into the N wall of the S chapel in the N transept of the cathedral (TS061-025003-) on the Rock of Cashel. This is an end slab (dims. 0.8m x 0.59m) decorated the Crucifixion. It is described by Hunt (1974, vol. 1, 223), 'Christ is shown upon a cross with enlarged rectangular ends to the arms. The Virgin stands upon the dexter, her hands clasped, dressed in a pleated garment over which is shown the great Irish mantle or brat which falls in stylized folds over her head and is clasped upon her chest. St John, on the dexter, wears a similar pleated garment with a brat over his shoulders and gathered under the left elbow, the right hand raised to his fae in a stylized gesture of sorrow. The drawing and execution are crude and mannered, and this is evidently a late degenerate production closely connected with the O'Tunney workshop'.
