No credible fact supports the claim that Saint Nicholas of Myra is buried in County Kilkenny. The tomb belongs to Newtown Jerpoint and is more likely that of a Cistercian priest connected with Jerpoint Abbey. The saint claim is a popular mistake, not a documented burial fact.
