Toberreendoney, the well of the king of Sunday in County Kerry, is a shallow pool framed by three steps and a whitethorn tree. People still leave rags and small religious objects beside the water, treating the ordinary stone as a threshold for Sunday wishes. The name suggests a royal claim to the day itself, as if one king still owned the light and shade of every seventh day.

On the 1841-42 OS map this well was placed 200 yards N of its true position; however, this was corrected on the 1915 map. It is marked as 'Toberreendoney' (Tobar Rí an Domhnaigh - well of the king of Sunday). Situation and Description: This is a shallow pool which has three steps leading to it. On the northern side there are three steps leading to the grotto. The grotto, well and steps are surrounded by a path and beside the well lies a whitethorn tree. Linked to Saint Sunday (Cuan), the well is traditionally associated with healing and protection. Local folklore suggests that the "king of Sunday" refers to a saintly or supernatural figure whose patronage ensured the well's curative powers, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin.
