Tobernamolt

In pasture, adjacent to a field fence, located immediately N of a small rise. Named ‘Tobermolt’ on the 1838 and 1929 OS 6-inch maps, this well was, according to the 1838 OS Letters, formerly used as a holy well (O’Flanagan 1927, 176-7 (93-4)). Tobernamolt is associated with Saint Molt, a 5th-century Irish saint known for her healing powers. The well was historically visited for its curative properties, particularly for eye ailments, and was marked as a holy well in early 19th-century records.
