Toberclehaun is a holy well at the centre of a Clare burial ground, where six steps descend into a circular drystone chamber and triangular alcoves still hold forgotten offerings. The dead and the living may have shared this small water for centuries, asking it to remember what flesh forgets.

On a gentle SE-facing slope at the centre of a burial ground (CL038-026001-). A circular well (int. diam. c. 1m) surrounded by a drystone wall (Wth 0.8m; int. H 2.1m; ext. H 0.6m; ext. diam. 3.2-3.4m) with an entrance (Wth 0.75m) and six steps at NW. A number of triangular alcoves containing offerings line the internal walls. The well has been conserved. Toberclehaun, also known as Kilclehaun, is associated with Saint Clehaun, a lesser-recorded early Irish saint. The well is traditionally linked to cures for skin ailments and is visited on Saint Clehaun’s feast day, which is observed on 28 September.
