What is recorded here
Toberatoo is a holy well hidden in the marshy pasture of Castlegarden, County Kilkenny. Surveyors marked it in Gothic script on the 1839 map and again during the 1899 to 1902 revision, proving that local memory still recognized the water. The name has faded from ordinary speech, but the well remains tied to human devotion and the strange persistence of places that refuse complete forgetting.
In marshy ground, in rough pasture. Indicated as 'Toberatoo' in Gothic script on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1899-1902 revision.
