Toberacollure is a hidden holy well in County Clare, marked only by a low stone cairn and three whitethorn bushes on improved pasture. The name appeared on maps in 1842 and 1915, yet no water emerges and no offerings remain beside it. Thirty metres away lie the remains of a church, enclosure and children’s burial ground, suggesting the well served a lost community rather than passing travellers. The stones may have been cleared from the field to cover the well deliberately, burying its use but preserving its shape.

On level improved pasture. Indicated along a former field boundary c. 35m to the SE and named ‘Toberacollure’ on the 1842 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch maps. A well site now covered by a low cairn of small stones cleared from surrounding field (L 5m; Wth 4m; H 1m) upon which 3 whitethorn bushes grow. No trace of any water or stream emerging from under the cairn or any votive offerings on the site. An ecclesiastical enclosure (CL007-003001-), associated building (CL007-003002-) children’s burial ground (CL007-003003-) and church (CL007-003004-), lie 30m to the NE. Linked to Saint Collure, a lesser-known early Irish saint, the well may have been associated with local healing traditions. The name "Toberacollure" suggests a site of veneration connected to Collure, whose cult was once widespread in parts of Munster.
