What is recorded here
According to an index of the Civil Survey (1654-6) there were two mills at Ballymagir that would probably have been owned by Nicholas Devereux (Simington 1953, 163). Its precise location is not known, but one of them may have been the ‘salt mill’ or tidal mill mentioned in the description of the parish boundary (ibid. 145, 149) near the Salt Bridge in Riverstown and Gibberwell townlands.
