What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape with a small old clay-pit immediately to the S. Removal of the topsoil exposed a circular area (int. diam. 2.7m) defined by an edge of fire-reddened clay (T 0.15m). This is probably the fire-pit of a kiln, and because of the proximity of the clay-pit it can be assumed that bricks would have been fired in it.
