Thomas Moore was born in Dublin in 1779 and became Ireland's national bard through melodies that gave voice to dispossession and resistance. He satirised English politicians who deceived Irish Catholics, yet refused to join O'Connell's Repeal Association because he feared Catholic place-seeking nationalism. Moore died in England in 1852, remembered for poems like The Last Rose of Summer and suspected of destroying Byron's memoirs. A shopkeeper's son from Aungier Street became Europe's romantic voice, then vanished into English soil, leaving Irish identity both elevated and embarrassed.
Thomas Moore is recorded as a memorial in County Dublin. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
