This blue commemorative plaque records: The just shall live by faith - Hebrews 10:38 On 26th March 1555 Thomas Higbed a gentleman of Hornden House was burnt at the stake in the courtyard of The Bell Inn, for his Protestant faith.
Thomas Higbed, a Protestant martyr from Hornden House, was burned at the stake in 1555 during the Marian persecutions for refusing to renounce his faith.
