What is recorded here

Croker stood barely five feet tall yet swallowed whole regions of memory, pulling legends from Cork kitchens and Dublin chairs until his own notebook vanished like a man walking into rain. He rebuilt the lost stories with help from friends, took the credit, and left a wound that still irritates when his name appears beside tales he never gathered.

Why this person is known: Irish antiquary and artist (1798–1854)
