Theodore Wright was born in this location in 1883 and later served with distinction as a Captain in the Corps of Royal Engineers during World War I, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. He was killed in action during the Battle of Mons in 1914, making this site significant as the birthplace of a decorated war hero.
