BEYOND THIS WALL LIES THE VILLAGE POUND! THIS WALLED ENCLOSURE DATING BACK ALMOST AS OLD AS THE VILLAGE CHURCH, AND IN WHICH CATTLE HAVE BEEN 'IMPOUNDED WITHIN LIVING MEMORY. THE POUND AND CROSS WERE ONCE AN INTEGRAL PART OF VILLAGE LIFE AND ECONOMY
