The Roaches (Lower Tier) is a sandstone sea cliff or coastal rock feature, part of the Middle Bunter Sandstone Formation, dating to the Triassic period, around 250–240 million years old. It formed from the deposition of aeolian and fluvial sands in arid conditions and is notable for its striking red coloration and accessibility for geological study and rock climbing.
