The ordinary view hides the useful part of the story. This unusually modest late 19th-century courthouse is well preserved and adds variety to the streetscape.
Detached four-bay single-storey courthouse, built c.1870,. The courthouse is finished in render. The panelled door is flat-headed. Window openings are also flat headed with six over six timber sash frames. The pitched roof is finished in natural slate with cast-iron rainwater goods. Chimneystacks are rendered with plain caps and clay pots. The courthouse is road fronted and is located within the town centre.
