The Needle is approximately 700 metres in height and is composed primarily of ancient metamorphic rocks typical of the Scottish Highlands. It is known for its distinctive, narrow summit profile, which has likely contributed to its name and may feature in local folklore as a notable landmark. Its prominence contributes to the rugged character of the Highland landscape and may be significant for hikers and geologists.
