What is recorded here

Wall-mounted cast-iron fountain, dated 1854, on an engaged half-octagonal plan. Now disused. Street fronted.
A fountain erected (1854) 'by JOHN GREENE [1803-90] MAYOR' representing an interesting example of cast-iron work making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement in John Street Upper. NOTE: A lost tradition saw the fountain used to determine social status in Wexford according to place of residence "above or below The Cock o' John Street".

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
