The Castle at Berkhamsted

Berkhamsted Castle was originally built in the 11th century, following the Norman Conquest, and was held by the de Lacy family before passing to the powerful de Vere Earls of Oxford. It is remembered as a key royal and administrative center, frequently used by medieval kings for hunting and as a base for military and political affairs in Hertfordshire.
