Gateway, extant 1837, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of cut-granite octagonal piers on chamfered plinths having polygonal capping supporting crocketed cast-iron double gates with cut-granite octagonal outer piers on chamfered plinths having polygonal capping supporting crocketed cast-iron serpentine railings. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of The Aske.
A gateway forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 60260166) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the The Aske estate.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
