Tarbert Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Tarbert Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Tarbert Castle, a medieval tower house, was built by the Macleod clan of Harris and was strategically important as a stronghold controlling the Sound of Tarbert. It is remembered for its role in the history of the Western Isles and as a symbol of clan power in the region.
