This site was formerly known as SWINE GREEN / LORD BYRON wrote his first piece of poetry in 1798, with the verse "In Nottingham County there lives at Swine Green as curst an old lady as ever was seen....."
Swine Green is associated with Lord Byron, who wrote his first known poem in 1798 referencing the location. The site is historically significant as the inspiration for early works by one of England’s most celebrated Romantic poets.
